Prototyping

I'm back on the road. Our game is starting to trying to take a shape. We started by making a prototype using the selected technologies. This will help us to know more about them and to make better estimatives for the features of the game.

By now, we have a box that can be moved over a terrain using jme physics and jme.

We are working to make a beta beta beta beta beta downloadable version of our game xD, if someone wants to take a look and make some critics, fell free to comment.

About other things, we have some concept art of the creatures and mind controller from different artists. All of this art is really cool, every one have different view of the game, and this help us to determine what is the real look we want. I will post the drawings later.

See you later.

Beginning the journey

So, we start the project, a game about some freaking monsters with the skill to control creature's minds jumping over their heads.... freak.

"Supreme Splink Deathmatch" is the code name of the project (for now) and possible name of the game, where Splink is the name of the mind controlling monsters.

We are using our own customized process which tries to take a lot of good practices from others like Scrum and Extreme Programming (look at AgileGameDev for more info).

Some of our constraints are: all of us have a job and other things that leave us few hours per day to develop this game, we are working remotely almost all the time which makes a lot of things difficult to do (for example: the practice of pair programming we want to try) and we don't have any art skills at all (we are just programmers).

The firsts team meetings were hard, we had a lot of problems with estimations because we have no experience developing games and we don't know our knowledge status over the chosen tools for the project.

After hours of hard work, we reached some initial plan for the first iteration where we hope to gain a lot of experience helping us to be more accurate on the next iterations.

About the game, we want to do a multiplayer deathmatch 3d (not massive) which takes a lot of things from games lilke Bomberman, Kong and Soldat. The project will be developed over java using jme and some other technologies (al least for now, we suppose we will use these).

We don't have much more to say for now, wish us luck :D
